Shawna Woody
MS Student, Thomas Sisk Graduate Fellow
Northern Arizona University, School of Earth and Sustainability
Shawna started her MS in 2024 with the School of Earth and Sustainability at Northern Arizona University, under the mentorship of Clare Aslan.
Her research is exploring the effects pollinators and flowering plants are experiencing in response to grazing of bison on the north rim of the Grand Canyon on the Kaibab Plateau in Arizona.
She completed her bachelor’s degree in biology at Fort Lewis College in 2020. After completing her bachelor’s degree, she worked for the nonprofit Turtle Lake Refuge in Durango, Colorado, which aims at promoting sustainable practices in land management and improving community health. Prior to starting on her MS, Shawna completed the Research Assistance Mentoring Program for post-bachelorette at Northern Arizona University, where she focused on identifying culturally significant medicinal plants within the Emory oak ecosystem for Apache tribes.
In her spare time, Shawna loves playing sports, cooking, and doing art crafts!
